Our "August Photo Album" is up and online now. Pictures here mainly rotate around the Patio Extension project, the Annual Backyard BBQ and Dance (1970's Disco Theme this year), and some other random shots at other events my wife and I attended during this month.

The latest album for you to take a boo is at "August 2009 Happenings" As usual, all the other Albums are located at Main page here: "Edwin & Tine's Photo Albums"

I didn't "Photoshop" any of these pictures, so the images are "raw" and untouched.

As usual, if you have any comments, please leave them for me. Thanks guys!

Summer Trumpet Flowers

Photo's taken during the month of August, mostly of our Trumpet Flowers and of our yard. This year, almost every flower blossomed on the same day! On Saturday evening, there were about 8 or 9 blossoms, as there has been all summer, but this time, each tree was covered with buds, just getting ready to burst open.

On a Sunny Summer Sunday, we invited some friends over as we knew that this day would be special. From noon that day until 10PM that evening, there were over 90 blossoms that opened up fully from just a bud to full bloom! Totally amazing.

See this album to believe the quantity and size of these flowers.

Flower bud opening up

One guest sat beneath an unopened bud, and about 1.5 hours later, she looks up and sees a fully opened flower. Remember, these flowers are about a foot long and 6-8 inches wide!!!

Each summer, we try to hold a BBQ for all our friends, family and neighbours. It is an all-day event, and people are constantly coming and going. In evening, if there are still people around, I light the firepit for the kids to roast marshmallows and weiners. Caesar's Palace is open in case someone wants to lie down on a lounge chair behind the netting as well.

Enjoy all the photo's!

I was on the Trade Show Committee, and due to my mobility issues, I rode a friends Segway all weekend to get around! Almost every photo was taken while I was ON the Segway. If you want to know how I feel about the Segway now, take a look at "My Views" blog and see how much I am trying to increase awareness of them. They are a godsend to handicapped people like myself!

After the Christmas Decorations and all the trees have been taken down, Greenland owners and staff put together a demonstration pond - indoors. This includes all the trees, bushes, plants, water features, pond fish and tons of dirt, all hauled into the main display area at the garden centre. Every year the pond layout changes, so no pond is ever seen twice.

Here is the link to the Photo's I took in January and February of 2008, as the plants matured and the pond looked better and better over the 3 months it is set up before being torn down again to be ready for Spring plant seed sales and displays.

As a bonus, they put a Volkswagon Bus right into the display, and ran a stream out of it's side door into the garden! What a bunch of practical jokers!!!

Greenland Garden Centre is on the Yellowhead Trail (Highway 16 East of Edmonton) and near the junction of Highway 21. Each year after planting season is over, Greenland decorates all the indoor areas with what is probably the largest Christmas Tree display in the region. One can buy all your tree decorations right off the display trees. Of course they have tree's too, but you simply have to be there to understand all the work they put into displaying all these items. Simply Amazing!
